Built by community

The Center for Collaborative Design envisions a more equitable and connected future where architecture is a community-centered practice. They seek to challenge industry norms and develop solutions for the built environment in fundamentally new ways.

Located in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego, the Center for Collaborative Design is working to reimagine the future of architecture education. Through inquiry-based workshops, public programming, and transborder collaboration, their mission is to create affordable design education driven by social and environmental justice.

The interplay of hard and soft lines in the logomark is inspired by the school’s experimental and radical approach to architecture education. The icon suggests the shape of a building or communal area, while the negative space in the heart of the icon serves as a window or door — an invitation — for the community to experience architecture in a bold new way.
